"Might as well. Can't dance and it's too wet to plow!"

I am so ecstatic to start my own teaching blog. A blog of fun ideas for teachers, mothers, grandmothers, babysitters, nanny's, stay at home daddy's, and anyone who wants to teach little ones.  I have been toying with the idea for well over a year now and have decided to just do it! As my in-laws always say, "Might as well. Can't dance and it's too wet to plow!"

Why I chose "Young Hands Love 2 Learn!"

About 10 years ago I was called to be a Nursery music leader in my ward for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I immediately fell in love with teaching those little spirits.  One of my favorite parts of teaching Nursery was developing fun hands-on activities for the little ones.  I loved making die-cuts, puppets, handouts, or anything for the kids to hold so that they could both sing and move. I learned quickly that students learn faster when they can include more than one of their senses at a time especially the sense of touch!

That was the beginning of what would be my life-long career, a TEACHER!

5 years later I married my best friend and took on the name Young!

I love that I will always be forever young.  Not only that, I love that young can be another word for children. Children's hands love to learn, "Young Hands Love 2 Learn!"

I am now not only a wife but a kindergarten teacher and a mother of an energetic, spunky, creative, and busy 18 month old.

I find myself trying to find new and exciting ways to keep my little man from destroying the house.  As everyone knows, 18 month old's have short attention spans but I have found that my son's attention span is longer when the activity allows him to touch, move, push, squish, mold, slide, expand, or play with something!

So welcome to: "Young Hands Love 2 Learn" a place where I can write down and share my ideas.  A place mothers and teachers can come for ideas to get their children or class doing hands-on activities. A place where I can express one of my greatest passions.  I hope that you enjoy!

What can you expect to see?

I hope to be able to post at least once a week hopefully more with helpful tips, lesson ideas, at home adaptations, items to use at home, printables, and freebies.
Now, I probably should be upfront and let you know that I am not the best writer.  I hope that you will stay with me even if I make grammatical mistakes or spelling errors. I am hoping that the more I write the better I will get. "Practice makes perfect" right?

Please let me know if you ever have a question, comment, or outburst of emotion! I am still learning and would love your input!
